Stock and Duke come out swinging.
CALGARY
After his stunning victory in the Canadian Alliance Leadership contest, Stockwell Day has already received some high profile endorsements for his next campaign -- to become Prime Minister. The Alliance is hoping that the new momentum will unite the far right and put him over the edge.
At a press conference, a variety of influential and previously undeclared right-of-centre leaders threw their combined weight behind Mr. Day, including: James Charles Kopp, Jim Keegstra, David Duke and Ernst Zundel. In a joint statement, they said they were supporting Stockwell Day because he is the most tolerant of their views and that he is the best positioned leader to take Canada to a pure Christian state.
Convicted hate criminal and former teacher Jim Keegstra (who now runs a car repair business) said he admired Day's outspoken style. Mr. Keegstra noted that although the other politicians shared Mr. Day's views on issues such as abortion, the gay conspiracy and immigration, they were afraid to speak out in public.
Mr. Keegstra denied there was any conflict of interest with his role as Mr. Day's mechanic: "sure Stock is one of my best customers, but he always pays the going rate to have me exorcise the International Jewish Conspiracy from his carburetor."
Ernst Zundel, Canada's leading Holocaust denier, said that he strongly supported the Alberta Treasurer's candidacy because of the courageous stands Day had taken as a Christian school administrator. "I know the personal toll of standing up for what you believe in," said Mr. Zundel, " and I was inspired by Stockwell's spirited defense of his school's Accelerated Christian Education curriculum which states that 'Buddhists and Muslims are evil' and 'Jewish leaders were children of their father, the devil.'"
Internationally renowned anti-abortion activist James Charles Kopp could not be present at the press conference due to a previous engagement with the FBI's 10 most wanted list. However, Mr. Kopp did send a message of support for Day's campaign in an anonymous letter delivered to the Hamilton Spectator in which he wrote "The light of Day will vindicate our campaign to exterminate all the foetus-murdering doctors off the face of the earth."
David Duke, Former Grand Wizard of the Klu Klux Klan, said he was definitely voting for Mr. Day with each and every one of the five Canadian Alliance member voting kits he had already received at his home in Lousiana. "Stockwell's election as Prime Minister will be an important first step in purifying the North American race and ensuring that red-blooded manly white heterosexual Christians can regain their rightful place on the continent."
In addition to the endorsements, the new Day luminaries pledged to raise money for Day's current and future campaigns. "We'll be holding cross-burning fundraisers and abortion-clinic bombathons all over the continent to advance his-- and all our-- cause," they pledged in their joint statement.
